We were really excited to work with Signals and the Essex Children's University on our design competition, 'My Future: My Design' for young people in Colchester and Tendring.
Open to children in school years 3-6, the competition asked children to animate, draw or 3D model their ideal home, neighbourhood, or fun place to visit in the future. We had some wonderful entries to the competition and were really impressed with the skills and imagination of the young people. A huge well done goes to every young person that entered!
Our judges blind scored the entries and were pleased to pick the three winners, as below. You can also see a gallery of all the wonderful entries on this page.
All three winners were from Home Farm Primary, which has an Eco Schools Green Flag Award. You can certainly see the eco influence on these wonderful entries!
Headteacher of Home Farm Primary School, Mr Richard Potter, said "As a committed Eco-Aware, Green School, one of Home Farm’s curriculum drivers is ‘Environment’. It has been a pleasure to be involved with the My Future: My Design competition and our pupils have really enjoyed thinking about what our communities, homes and buildings should look like in years to come!"
1st Place: Annabelle's Eco House
Judges comment: "This is a fantastic use of different techniques to create an amazing 3D environment. Great consideration of sustainable technology and ecological design features".
2nd Place: Holly's Neighbourhood
Judges comment: "This future neighbourhood includes a lot of sustainability features. I love the range of ideas".
3rd Place: Max's Renewable Energy Home
Judges comment: "I like the ideas for the garden, car charging and renewable energy".
